The interior of Miyama FUTON & Breakfast is a peaceful and comfortable space where the wisdom of traditional Japanese architecture still lives on.
A long doma (traditional earthen-floor corridor) connects the entrance to the back door. When the sliding doors are opened wide, a gentle breeze flows straight through the house. Traditional Japanese homes were designed with ventilation as the highest priority, in order to naturally prevent humidity and mold in Japan’s hot and damp climate. This house remains a beautiful example of that timeless design.
Beyond the doma, you will find a traditional wooden floor room with an irori hearth, as well as tatami rooms. These spaces are separated by fusuma sliding doors, allowing you to open them up into one large room or close them for privacy, depending on your needs.
Further inside, there is a quiet tea room, a special place where time feels slower and the atmosphere invites calm reflection.
At Miyama FUTON & Breakfast, you are free to lay out your futon and sleep wherever you like. You can choose your favorite room and enjoy a restful night surrounded by the soft scent of tatami.
Wind, wood, earth, tatami, and silence.
The interior of Miyama FUTON & Breakfast is not simply a place to stay—it is a space where you can truly experience the essence of traditional Japanese living.
