Project Description
HOTARUAN is one of the signature thatched-roof houses of Miyama Heritage Stays, located in the quiet satoyama countryside of Miyama, Kyoto.
This house is officially registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan, and it continues to live not as a museum, but as a place where people can truly stay and feel the rhythm of traditional Japanese life.
In this 6-minute 38-second room tour video, you will walk through the atmosphere of HOTARUAN—from the entrance and tatami rooms to the warmth of the irori hearth, where silence, wood, fire, and time naturally come together.
The beauty of a thatched-roof house is not only in its architecture, but in the way it changes the human mind. The sound of wind, the scent of timber, the softness of light, and the deep calm of the countryside remind us that luxury is not something added, but something rediscovered.
HOTARUAN is a place to slow down. A place to breathe. A place to remember what it means to live simply and deeply.
If you are seeking an authentic kominka stay in Japan, this cultural heritage home offers a rare experience—quiet, timeless, and real.
