Project Description

The washbasin area at Hotaruan is located in the doma, the traditional earthen-floor space near the entrance of an old Japanese home.
In the past, the doma was an important part of daily life—a place that connected the outdoors with the living space, used for work, storage, and everyday routines.

At Hotaruan, we have preserved this authentic atmosphere while carefully adding the comfort needed for a modern stay.
Even simple moments—washing your hands, brushing your teeth, or preparing for the day—can feel calm and meaningful here.

The scent of earth, the warmth of wood, and the gentle natural light create a quiet space where you can truly slow down and feel the spirit of traditional Japanese living.
